What makes the engine light come on?
Your engine management system is an on-board computer that monitors performance and stores the information. If one of the systems or components goes outside of it’s normal operating range, this will send a signal to the on-board computer which in turn will turn on the warning light to let you know that something is wrong.
What does it mean?
The reasons for a warning light to come on are varied, your on-board computer monitors many different elements of your car. Whilst your car may seem to be running as normal, ignoring a warning light can lead to serious issues such as engine damage or component failure. We always advise to pop your car in for a check when any warning lights come on that you don’t understand. This could save you money in the long run.
